Chaton Sharing Tai Chi is a community-based seniors program dedicated to promoting health, wellness, and traditional Tai Chi culture. Founded under the guidance of Master Jason Shen, the program welcomes participants of all experience levels.
During the summer months, participants practice Ba Duan Jin (Eight Brocades Qigong), Yang Style 85-Form Tai Chi, and a variety of gentle exercises that help improve balance, flexibility, coordination, and relaxation. Weather permitting, classes are held in St Cuthbert's Peace Garden.
The program currently operates on a community-supported basis and is free to attend. Beginning in September, structured instruction will resume under Master Jason Shen, with a modest fee introduced to help cover instructional costs.
Everyone is welcome, whether they are new to Tai Chi or have previous experience.
Beginning in September 2026, Chaton Sharing Taichi will resume structured instruction under the direct guidance of Master Jason Shen. A modest fee will be introduced to help cover instructional costs while maintaining the program's community-oriented and accessible spirit.

Meet Our Instructor: Master Jason Shen
Master Jason Shen is a respected Tai Chi lineage holder, senior Tai Chi instructor, health and wellness consultant, martial arts referee, and researcher with over 60 years of experience in traditional Chinese martial arts and health cultivation.
Born into a family tradition of Chinese medicine and Tai Chi, Master Shen began his training under the guidance of his grandfather, a renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner and Tai Chi master. After completing formal medical studies, he continued to study with numerous distinguished Tai Chi masters throughout China, integrating the wisdom of traditional martial arts with modern health and wellness principles.
Master Shen is a recognized practitioner and instructor of Chen-style, Yang-style, and Wu-style Tai Chi, and has dedicated decades to promoting authentic Tai Chi culture internationally. He has taught at universities, community organizations, multinational corporations, fitness centers, and cultural institutions across China and abroad. His contributions to the Tai Chi community have been recognized through inclusion in the China Tai Chi Encyclopedia and other professional publications.
Known for his emphasis on natural movement, internal development, structural integrity, and practical application, Master Shen's teaching combines traditional theory, health cultivation, martial understanding, and accessible instruction for practitioners of all levels.
