Weddings at St Cuthbert’s
Thank you for considering a wedding at St Cuthbert’s. One does not need to be a member of St Cuthbert's to ask for help with a wedding. We have a beautiful, classically designed church building that is fully air conditioned and with ample parking. Located in lovely south east Oakville, we are also close to Gairloch Gardens where many couples have photos taken of their special occasion. There are also many hotels, restaurants and banquet halls nearby with plenty of opportunities for some terrific wedding receptions following the ceremony.
We are also able to celebrate weddings away from the church building itself. With some careful planning, tasteful and appropriate ceremonies can be held in locations such as outdoor chapels at golf courses and in banquet halls or restaurants.
I have been officiating at weddings for over twenty years now, have been married 25 years myself and enjoy celebrating with couples as they commit themselves to each other before God. It’s an opportunity for us to gather with friends and family and to ask for God’s blessing as couples begin their new life together.
You will find plenty of helpful information about weddings at St Cuthbert’s in the two booklets that you can access directly below (including a sample ceremony and information about costs and other details) but if you have any questions in the meantime please give me a call.
It is recommended that you complete 'The Marriage Preparation Program', a Humancare(TM) Program that is supported by St Cuthbert's and the Anglican Diocese of Toronto. All information including schedules, can be found at www.MarriagePrep.com .
The best place to start in thinking about a wedding at St Cuthbert’s is for the three of us to get together and talk about the possibility. If it seems like we want to move ahead with plans we can get some dates confirmed and get started on your plans for a meaning-filled, joyful and beautiful ceremony.
I look forward to meeting with you soon and congratulations on your upcoming wedding. May God bless you in this wonderful, exciting and sacred time in your lives.
The Reverend Canon Joseph Asselin,
Special Note: As of 2016 we are also proud to be able to offer weddings for same gender couples with the full authorization of our Diocesan Bishop. Please be in touch with me and we can talk about this opportunity.
